Urine Sulfosalicylic Acid Test For Protein

SSA Test

These days, the urine microalbinuria or P:Cr ratio is usually preferred by veterinarians in screening dogs and cats for the kidney problems that allow blood protein to leak into your pet's urine.

But the SSA test is an alternative method of detecting when abnormally high amounts of those proteins are escaping into your pet’s urine.

The SSA test was once thought to be a more precise way to measure that protein leakage than visually comparing the color change on simple urine dipsticks to the chart that is printed on the side of the bottle.

But more recent date suggests that it is no better.
